I am a tad obsessed with baby names. I seriously stalk down names every day. It's addicting. I also like to learn of new literary names or match up names to literature.. Here are some of my faves..
Holden - Catcher in the Rye of course.. :)
Cade -Gone with the Wind
Sawyer - Tom Sawyer
Bennett - From Bennet in Pride & Prejudice..
Alcott - Louisa May Alcott
Adeline - Lord Byron
Elizabeth - Pride & Prejudice
Josephine - Little Women
and I am sure there are more but my brain is FRIED. First day back in the "real" world after a 3 month hiatus. Wowzers..
What are your favorite literary names? What other names have you secretly always wanted to name your child? Or do you think obsessing over names is ridiculous?
Well, I named my kitty Scout. I do like your list :)
ReplyDeleteI like the names on that list. Surprisingly, I don't have any literary inspired names in mind.
ReplyDeleteI like to think about what names I would pick out, though. The only name I am passionate about using is "Paul" - after my dad. But I wouldn't use it if I married a guy named Paul!
I don't think it's ridiculous to think about baby names, either. It's fun & I talk about this w/ my girlfriends quite a bit!
Hi...I clicked on your comment from Blairs blog...I named my son Huck after Huckleberry Finn, most people like it but there are some haters but I don't care, I love it! I wanted to name my daughter Maude after my favorite book Harold and Maude but didn't dare, I wished I had because we're only having two kids.
ReplyDeleteWell I was sure I was having a boy 26 years ago and had picked out Aidan as a tribute to my Gaelic heritage. When my daughter arrived, I changed the spelling to Ayden. There are a million Aydens, Haydens, Jaydens and Cadens now, but she's one of the oldest ones I know!
